Overview

Bridging Heritage and a Sustainable Future

Welcome to Chowgule International School, Margao, our state’s newest beacon of educational excellence. Goa has a storied history as a global cradle of knowledge—from the ancient Agraharas of the Kadambas to the 16th-century St. Paul’s College, which introduced Asia’s first printing press and revolutionized learning across our continent.
We are proud to carry this torch forward by merging our rich local heritage with acclaimed and internationally benchmarked educational framework. Just as Goa’s historical institutions served as a bridge between East and West, our pedagogy prepares students to be compassionate and engaged global citizens.

As a passionate educator, I view my role as more than just an administrator; I am here to steer our collective vessel. In today’s VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) world, the winds of change are constant.
I am reminded by William Arthur Ward’s pithy comment, “The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.”  My endeavour will be to provide the steady hand and visionary leadership required to “adjust the sails,” ensuring our students are not merely buffeted by the unknown, but are actively navigating the path of rigorous proficiency.

At CIS we will prioritize skill development of your child – cultivating agility, emotional intelligence, and digital literacy. We will ensure our students demonstrate agency and are architects of their own progress. This focus on “Approaches to Learning” ensures they remain globally competitive while staying deeply rooted in the extraordinary, centuries-old educational legacy of Goa.
Join us as we inspire the leaders of tomorrow to master the winds and chart a course towards a brilliant and sustainable future.

Learning Philosophy

At Chowgule International School (CIS), inspired by progressive education, learning is viewed as an active, purposeful, and deeply human process. We believe that children learn best when they are encouraged to ask questions, make connections, reflect on their experiences, and take ownership of their learning.

Our learning philosophy is grounded in inquiry, conceptual understanding, and real-world relevance. Knowledge is not treated as isolated information, but as interconnected ideas that help learners make sense of the world around them. Teachers act as facilitators and guides, creating learning experiences that are engaging, challenging, and responsive to individual learners.

Equally central to learning at CIS is the wellbeing of every learner. We believe that emotional, social, and psychological safety form the foundation for meaningful learning, and our classrooms are designed as inclusive spaces where curiosity thrives, mistakes support growth, and every voice matters.

Curriculum Pathway

(IB + Cambridge)

CIS offers a thoughtfully designed curriculum pathway that proposes to integrate the strengths of the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge Assessment International Education, both globally recognised and aligned with the intent of India’s National Education Policy (NEP 2020).

This integrated pathway ensures:

  • Strong conceptual foundations
  • Development of critical and creative thinking
  • International benchmarks with local relevance
  • Flexibility to support diverse learner pathways

By drawing on the philosophies and frameworks of IB and Cambridge, CIS provides continuity, academic rigour, and global recognition, while allowing space for contextualisation and meaningful learning experiences.

Primary Years Program

The Primary years at CIS focus on nurturing curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning. Young learners are encouraged to explore ideas through inquiry-based, hands-on experiences that integrate language, mathematics, sciences, arts, and social understanding.

Learning during these years emphasises:

Children are supported to become confident communicators, thoughtful thinkers, and joyful learners.

Middle Years Program

The Middle years at CIS provide academic depth, rigour, and choice, enabling learners to explore subjects of interest while developing strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Key features include:

Learners are supported in becoming independent thinkers who are confident in articulating ideas and engaging with complex concepts.

Senior Years Program

The Senior years are designed to prepare learners for higher education and life beyond school. Emphasis is placed on intellectual maturity, self-direction, and responsible decision-making.

This stage empowers learners to transition confidently into higher education and global opportunities.

S.E.E. Curriculum

Social, Emotional and Ethical Development of the Human Mind

Beyond academics, CIS places strong emphasis on Social, Emotional, and Ethical (S.E.E.) learning—inspired by globally respected frameworks such as the S.E.E. curriculum developed by Emory University. These principles are woven into the daily life of the school through mindful practices, reflective conversations, ethical inquiry, relationship-building, and real-world application. By intentionally nurturing self-awareness, empathy, emotional regulation, compassion, and ethical decision-making, CIS ensures that learners grow not only in knowledge, but also in character, resilience, and social responsibility—supporting holistic development and lifelong wellbeing.

Assessment Approach

Assessment at CIS is viewed as an integral part of the learning process, not merely a measure of outcomes. It is designed to support growth, reflection, and continuous improvement.

Our approach includes:

Assessment practices are fair, purposeful, and focused on helping learners understand their progress and next steps.

University & Global Pathways

CIS prepares students for a wide range of higher education pathways, both within India and internationally. The internationally benchmarked curriculum equips learners with the skills and dispositions required for success in diverse university systems.

Students develop:

Graduates of CIS are well-positioned to pursue higher education opportunities globally and in India, while remaining grounded in strong values and a sense of responsibility. As the higher education landscape in India rapidly evolves—embracing interdisciplinary learning, flexible pathways, research orientation, and skills-based admissions—the inquiry-driven, concept-focused pedagogy at CIS prepares students to adapt, think critically, and learn independently. Our internationally benchmarked curricula are widely recognised by Indian boards and universities, enabling CIS learners to transition confidently into diverse higher education environments.
